Why did you choose St. Joseph’s?
I think what really sets St. Joseph’s apart from other programs is the atmosphere. Everyone is so kind – the other residents, attendings, admins, and nursing and support staff. The environment is very supportive while still pushing you to continue developing your knowledge, skills and confidence as a provider.
What do you enjoy most about Syracuse/Central NY?
I love living in Syracuse. There are many hiking trails and parks nearby if you enjoy outdoor activities, and it’s close to the Finger Lakes wine trails. Syracuse also has a massive shopping mall with several outlet stores, and a ropes course on the ceiling that I really want to try once COVID is over. The food scene is very good for a city its size. Housing/rent is pretty cheap as well – the prices are similar to what I was used to in the Midwest. Also, they have Wegman’s, which is the best supermarket chain of stores I’ve ever been to – it really reminds me of a Whole Foods, but with cheaper prices, similar quality and a large selection of all kinds of foods/products.
